The Tinker Lab at
The Collective is a mobile 'makerspace' with some simple tools and kits for hands-on exploration and demonstrations.
One of the several hands-on demos this year is how to digitize an image for a domestic embroidery sewing machine and possibly even create your own scarf using your image. Taught by Andrew Kosmowski, this tutorial was developed as part of the University of Dayton Libraries’ “Craft Corner with Cool Collections” offered during final exam week where the Libraries made embroidered scarves with a Christmas stamp from the Marian Library’s digitized images. Participants who wish to create a file for their machines need to know the make of machine and the embroidery hoop size. As an example, Andrew will use a BabyLock machine that uses a 4'x4' embroidery hoop.
